Our Mission
The Distinctives of Springton Lake Presbyterian Church:
We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) that wholeheartedly embraces the historic Christian faith as expressed in God’s Word, the Bible. The Bible is the supreme and final authority to which we submit ourselves. We are also committed to the Presbyterian form of the Christian tradition by our subscription to the Westminster Confession of Faith.
The Purpose of SLPC is to be an authentic Gospel fellowship that follows Jesus Christ for the good of our community, region and world—for today and future generations.
Our Vision is to see hundreds of people find a meaningful relationship with God through saving faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. By this relationship we are transformed as God does amazing works of forgiveness and healing in our personal lives, our families and the world.
Our Core Values are those things that we value most in the life of our church community. Things like:
Worship-- First and foremost we seek to be a worshipping community 24/7/365 that brings to God the adoration which is rightfully and joyfully His. Our worship is bound up in how we live everyday. We plan our weekly services to be insightful, inviting, invigorating, and inspirational—excellent worship is the pursuit of God!
The Gospel and Discipleship-- The Gospel changes people from the inside out—it is not just the way to enter the kingdom of God, but it is the way to address every problem and life situation. The Gospel is the Good News that through Jesus Christ the power of God entered history to change the world. Understanding and receiving the Gospel has the purpose of making followers of Jesus Christ who are seeking to find their unique calling in the world.
Outreach and Missions—All people matter to God and therefore ought to matter to the church. Jesus has asked us to join Him in the fulfillment of His Great Commission to ‘make disciples’ in every community around the world. We desire to equip people to use their spheres of influence and relationships to demonstrate and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Social Justice—The world is heart-broken at personal, national, and international levels. There is great need for justice, reconciliation, and Christian transformation in all arenas of life. We are committed to reaching out to both the privileged and under-privileged in near and far away places as part of our Christian responsibility, seeking not only to share the Gospel and leading people to accept Christ as Lord but to also care for the suffering through vivid social actions.
Community--The Christian life is best lived out in relationships which nurture and encourage obedience and faithfulness to the Gospel. People love and care for one another best in the context of small groups led by trained leaders, designed to strengthen families and individuals.
Children, Youth, and Families—First and foremost we desire to support strengthen marriages and support parents as we raise our children in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We seek to encourage personal spiritual growth through study and discussion of the Bible. We seek to share the Good News among friends by creating a fun-loving environment for all ages.
Compassion—We are committed to meeting the needs of our members, regular attendees and the community through ministries of mercy and compassion. The Gospel is best understood when followers of Christ show love and care. This will provide surprising results as we use our gifts and resources for the needs of others.
Stewardship—We are responsible and accountable to God to use all of our resources: time, talent and treasure that has been entrusted to us. We do this in faith and with great joy, knowing that our lives are under God’s tender care.
Prayer—A prayer ministry that focus on the character of God and the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the key to our spiritual health and vitality. Our prayer gatherings should reach beyond the mere day to day maintenance needs of the church as we pray that God would change our hearts and the culture around us.
