Coronavirus: Church Cancellation
Dear Friends,
This afternoon the Elders have made a decision to cancel our Mission Sunday worship service and combined Sunday school. (Dr. Walt Mueller has agreed to reschedule for a more opportune time.)
Many things developed over the past 24 hours that compelled us not to meet publicly. We made this decision out of love and care for our church family and our broader community, and out of respect for Gov. Wolf's request. We don't want to give any opportunity for the coronavirus to spread.
Tomorrow please worship at home. By Thursday of next week a plan for home and/or small group worship will be communicated to the SLPC family via Constant Contact and on our SLPC website.
As a reminder please follow these important protocols for your health that of your friends and family:
-
Wash your hands - The good habit of washing with soap and warm water works. Before touching your face take 20 seconds of your time to clean and scrub your hands.
-
Stay home if you feel sick - Protect other people at work and school from infection by being extra cautious. If you are experiencing symptoms such as a fever, cough, congestion or shortness of breath, call your health care provider immediately. And if you have financial needs call a member of our Diaconate, and assistance may be provided.
-
Check in with family, friends and neighbors - As Christians we must offer loving care, friendship and the Good News of Jesus Christ to people overwhelmed with fear. "Let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions." 1 John 3:18
-
Pray - For those impacted by this virus, for those serving the sick, and for God's provision of both care and a cure. You may also contact one of our elders, David White, or me. We are eager to serve and pray for you specifically as needs arise.
You may reach me directly at rickm3birches@verizon.net or 610-325-0199.
David White can be reached at dwhite@slpca.org or 267-738-8106
But most importantly, let us remember our true source of protection and hope:
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1
With Hope in Christ,
Pastor Rick Marshall
