The Old Testament prophet Zechariah in 500 BC rekindled the Messianic hope - a hope that was fulfilled on the day when Jesus entered Jerusalem with shouts of joy!

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” Zechariah 9:9

Four Opportunities for our SLPC Family

First - The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) invites Christians to join in 30 days of prayer for the church, the nation, and the world in response to the current COVID-19 crisis. As people suffer physically and economically, the month-long prayer initiative provides a structured way to pray for the needs inside and outside the church. Visit pcaga.org/prayer to download the month-long guide or explore topics day-by-day.

Second - A Call to Fast and Pray on Good Friday, April 10th
The whole world is impacted by the coronavirus, spreading death, illness, economic turmoil, panic, and fear. In response to this historic plague, the PCA, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) and the Anglican Church of North America (ACNA) have united to call the church to pray for God’s mercy and healing on Good Friday. The leaders of this prayer event have prepared the following download resources: A Guide to Prayer and Fasting and A Suggested Prayer List.

Third - A live Good Friday service to reflect on the Passion of the Lamb of God will take place on Zoom at 7:00 p.m. on April 10. Details of how to connect will be sent by email on Wedneday, April 8.

Fourth - In preparation for Easter, let me encourage you to read Viral Opportunity by Dr. Stan Gale. This year Easter Sunday gives us an extraordinary opportunity to invite our family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to to hear the Good News of how Jesus defeated death! We can all do this: First, we Pray (by name), then we Invite (by sending the link), and after the Easter service we Follow-up (by a phone call).

Finally, please:

Keep checking in with family, friends and neighbors. A phone call - listening, sharing the Word, and prayer will make a difference!

Use the resources on our Stay-at-Home page to help keep you and your family spiritually strong.
