“Angel” Eggs ~Allison Frassoni
A delicious take on traditional deviled eggs. These eggs are so good I call them “Angel” Eggs!
Ingredients:
- Hardboiled Eggs (12)
- Thick Cut Bacon (half pound)
- 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
- 3 tablespoons Light Brown Sugar
- Cayenne Pepper (to taste)
- Ground Cinnamon (just a pinch)
- 2 teaspoons whole grain Mustard
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh Dill, plus more for garnish
- 1 tablespoon Cider Vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 Scallions, minced
- Salt (to taste)
- Smoked Paprika, for garnish
Directions:
- Hard boil the eggs, allow them to cool in refrigerator until ready to use.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, pinch of cayenne pepper, and the cinnamon. Place the bacon on a wire rack set over a baking sheet. Sprinkle each slice of bacon with some of the mixture and bake, for about 10 minutes. Flip the bacon, sprinkle with the remaining mixture and continue to bake until crispy, about 10 more minutes. When bacon is cool, chop and set aside, reserving about a quarter for garnish.
- In another bowl, mix together mayonnaise, mustard, dill, cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, pinch of cayenne, scallions and chopped bacon, season with salt to taste.
- Slice eggs in half lengthwise and remove yolks, add yolks to mixture and mash together with fork until smooth.
- Fill egg whites with mixture. Garnish with extra bacon, dill and smoked paprika. Enjoy!

Helen Roseveare: The Doctor Who Kept Going No Matter What
Author: Laura Caputo-Wickham
[A Missionary Biography for Ages 4 to 12]
This is the story of Helen Roseveare who since childhood dreamt of going to faraway places to teach others about God. She became a doctor with missionary training who went to the Congo in the center of Africa. There she built a hospital and cared for the sick, teaching people how they could trust Jesus as their Savior and King. Despite much opposition, she had the faith to persevere even in the face of many trials and personal suffering through illness. In the midst of it all, Helen held onto the verse, “Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10) God’s words always filled her heart with peace and strength to persevere. Helen Roseveare lived from 1925 to 2016. She is a modern-day hero of the faith.
(At the end of this book there are some interactive questions and activities for kids, and the entire family. This biography is one of a series called “Do Great Things for God” that are designed to show kids that God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things.)
NOTE: Be sure to read in this “Common Threads” issue about our Springton Lake sponsored missionaries, Ted and Dana Witmer, who continue to work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo where Helen Roseveare once served Christ.
Man of Sorrows, King of Glory: What the Humiliation and Exaltation of Jesus Mean for Us
Author: Jonty Rhodes
Jonty Rhodes takes a deeper look at the cross of Christ, and how we as Christians are rightly called “people of the cross”. However, he explains that in our focus on the death of Jesus (His humiliation) we often miss what the resurrection (His exaltation) can mean for us. The resurrection exalts Christ as our Prophet, our Priest, and our glorious King. This book explores the entire ministry of Jesus through an examination of not only the four gospels, but also the Heidelberg Catechism, and it delves into the ministry of Christ in our lives today. Discover a comprehensive picture of Jesus with a more profound appreciation for God’s plan to reclaim sinners for Himself. This is a great book for anyone interested in reformed Christology.
